Dr Tony Swemmer
Node Manager
Tony has been managing the SAEON Ndlovu Node since 2007. His work is multi-faceted, ranging from business administration and staff management to networking with collaborators and funders, to running long-term research projects and publishing results.
His current research interests involve a wide range of environmental change topics, including savanna tree demography, the ecology of riparian zones, freshwater ecology, and rehabilitation of mining lands.
Tony's academic background is in plant ecology, particularly the eco-physiology and productivity of grasslands. His interest in the outdoors and nature conservation led him to study at the University of Cape Town after leaving school, where he was introduced to the fascinating world of ecology.
