Thami Shezi- Internal Stakeholder Communication
Thamsanqa “Thami” Shezi is a Masters student registered at Witwatersrand University and hosted by South African Environmental Observation Network-Grasslands, Forests and Wetlands node, Pietermaritzburg. He is supervised by Prof Tim O’Connor (SAEON/ Witwatersrand University), co-supervised by Prof Ed Witkowski (Witwatersrand University) and Dr Erwin Sieben (University of KwaZulu Natal). He is passionate about mountains, especially the rich diverse flora of Drakensberg Mountains. The title of his thesis is “Impacts of livestock grazing intensity on plant diversity in species-rich montane grassland, Northern Drakensberg”, with the focus starting from kraals moving up the mountains and looking at the fence line contrast. He has been vastly exposed to almost the entire rugged terrain of the Drakensberg escarpment. He is also an ultra-marathon and trail runner in his free time.
