My name is Sindiso Chamane and I am self-motivated, energetic, optimistic about life and passionate about nature. I am doing my PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in grassland ecology. Grassland research in the past has mainly focused on the grasses for their known value for grazing yet the diversity of the grasslands is determined by the forbs. Plant diversity may not play an important role for grazing but it plays a crucial role in ecosystem stability. My PhD project is assessing the effect of different grazing management practises, particularly high intensity grazing, on plant diversity and richness, population dynamics of the forbs and community structure in grasslands. My other research interests include fire ecology. My interests or hobbies are travelling, reading, running, socializing and meeting new people.
