Mapula Makwela MSc
Ms Mapula Makwela is an MSc student, registered at the University of the Western Cape, and currently hosted by SAEON Egagasini. Mapula’s MSc dissertation will investigate the validity of using surrogate environmental data to define bioregional breaks in the benthic habitat of KwaZulu-Natal region. Epifaunal species recorded using ROV footage will be processed for community composition and tested against the proposed bioregions. Mapula is supervised by Prof. AJ Smit (UWC), Dr Kerry Sink (SANBI) and Dr Lara Atkinson (SAEON). Mapula’s MSc is financially supported by SANBI and ACEP III.
