Hannah Raven MSc

Ms Hannah Raven is an ACEP MSc student, registered at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Eastern Cape and is hosted by SAEON Egagasini. Hannah’s MSc dissertation will investigate the benthic epifaunal diversity found in soft sediment habitats within Algoa Bay. Benthic imagery will be collected using a drop camera and sediment samples using a dredge at a number of stations within Algoa Bay. The information accumulated from this proposed research will feed directly to national research priorities including the identification of “sensitive and critical habitats for the recovery of key marine and coastal resources” and has strategic relevance for long term monitoring efforts in South Africa’s offshore regions. Hannah is supervised by Dr Amanda Lombard (NMMU), Dr Charles von der Meden (SAEON) and Dr Lara Atkinson (SAEON). Hannah’s MSc is financially supported by ACEP IV, NMMU and DST/NRF
