The SAEON Arid Lands Node’s learner support programme focusses on establishing a relationship with learners in which their scientific knowledge and skills and their interest in environmental science are developed at the same time. Learners showing potential are selected from different schools in the Kimberley area. They are invited to join the programme when they enter grade 9 and participate until they complete grade 11. The programme provides learners with unique, hands-on experiences through science camps, workshops and participation in expos. The programme endeavours to play a key role in preparing, inspiring, encouraging, engaging and nurturing learners to reach their full potential.
