Bioblitz
This is to add to the news item - which I have been editing on ocassions.
The Ezemvelo staff are really running with the BioBlitz. They estimate that up to 60 people could be involved - Ezemvelo Biodiversity scientists, interns and external specialists. the earlier date has been changed and is now 27 to 31 October. Not the best of times for the university calendar, but the only suitable time to get accommodation.
This is a project that is peripheral to our study - but there will be relevance - especially for the wetlands.
One of the interns is keen to do a survey to find out what natural resources the people in the catchment are using. There also will be a focus on pollination - and whether there are more crop-pollinators in the reserve than outside it. This is important for crops that are insect pollinated.
But - the main purpose of the BioBlitz is to see what plant and animal species occur in the area, and how rich it is in biodiversity.
