The dataset consists of the body masses from different random samples of approximately 50 male and 50 female fur seal pups weighed at regular intervals at specific rookeries for each year since 1993. Part 1 is from the subantarctic fur seal population at Marion Island and dates from 1993 while Part 2 is from the Antarctic fur seal population at Marion Island and dates from 1994. Some data from earlier years is also available.

Nest mounds of the granivorous harvestor ant Messor capensis, Tierberg, 1991 -2005
Data on the size and dispersion of nest mounds of the granivorous harvester ant Messor capensis, including nearest neigbour distances, nearest heuweltjies, and the number, size and seed production of plants associated with the nest mounds. Although high in most plant nutrients, soils in the Karoo are generally poor in nitrogen and water infiltrability due to the low organic matter content. The actions of any animals in this region that concentrate organic matter in patches, or contribute to the movement of organic matter underground (such as termites or ants) must influence the local distribution of moisture and plant nutrients in the soil. In the southern Karoo, harvester ants Messor capensis add seed husks and soil to their nest-mounds in layers. Each layer probably represents a brief burst of underground activity following rain, when soil is placed on the mound. This is followed by a longer period of dumping of seed husks and plant matter on the mound. Although some of the plant matter is removed by wind, enough remains to increase the organic content of the soils on the edges of harvester ant nest-mounds. It is hypothesised that soils of Messor capensis nest-mounds in the southern Karoo contain more moisture, have a higher organic matter content and an elevated nutrient status compared to surrounding areas.

Andover game Counts, 1983-2003
ANDOVER CENSUS HISTORY. The first recorded game census on Andover Game Reserve was held during 1983 when an aerial ‘total count’ was done using a helicopter. The reserve had regular assistance from officials of the TPA Nature Conservation Division up until 1986 and continued through to 1992 with combined teams from TPA and Gazankulu Nature Conservation. Annual aerial counts using a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter were conducted up until 1993 following which counts were only done every second year until 1999. In 1997 the navigation technique was updated from the use of 1:50000 topographic maps with a grid system drawn on the map to the use of a GPS system connected to a laptop computer. For a period of four years no official game census was done on Andover (2000-2003). Following the transfer of the Limpopo Province reserves to a Parks and Tourism Board, census operations were once again initiated through the use of private contractors. Game counts were conducted for 2 years (2004-2005) and the results provided were the actual count figures with no corrections applied. Following a change in the boundary alignment between the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces, an aerial count was done by the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency in 2006 to audit the assets of Andover. The figures given for this game census are the actual count figures with no corrections applied.

Every year, across each landscape type the management of Klaserie Private Nature Reserve conduct Veld Condition assessments in each of they landtypes. THe VCA's performed are done using the same methods as the orignal VCA's done in the Kruger National Park. Each VCA consists of 100 points were the nearest grass is recorded at each point and a biomass reading is taken. The grasses are identified if they belong to a list of 18 key species. If the grasses do not fall into that category they are recorded as other. All forbs are refered to as forbs. THe biomaass of the grass is recorded using a disc pasture meter
